The Netherlands is a world leader in water – national, international and innovative (keywords from the document Toekomstvisie Water 2020 from the NWP). Creating a good working climate for top experts is theretofore needed. Ultimately a powerful innovation policy is of great importance to the Dutch business so it can profile itself with distinctive products and services.

Solutions – innovations: new trends as a result of water scarcity
Expectations are (NWP Toekomstvisie), that in about ten years two third of the world’s population will live in areas where the demand of clean water is higher than the supply, areas with water stress. Also a huge part of the population lives in metropolises along the coast, with a high risk of flooding. The document Water 2020 indicates an increasing urgency of water problems and discusses the new dynamics that will start to change the way we handle water.
